Sony Ericsson P990i: The Perfect Smartphone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Keith_Rickwood]Keith Rickwood The Sony Ericsson P990i is a Smartphone for tech savvy consumers and professionals. At the first glance, the P990i looks similar to the P900 as it bears a strong resemblance to earlier handsets in the same series. The wide array of features include text and multimedia messaging, notepad, a voice recorder, a stopwatch, and a full Opera web browser. To get your emails straight to your phone, the P990 also supports push e-mail for the BlackBerry via the BlackBerry Connect solution; you can also connect via SMTP, IMAP4, and POP3 accounts. The 2 mega pixel camera comes with an autofocus, digital zoom, photo light and the bright TFT screen and video recording provide an excellent imaging experience. With a macro mode, autofocus, flash and a decent range of filters, the handset offers fairly good quality snaps. The tri-band P990i runs on the much-anticipated Symbian 9.1 Operating System. It is one of the few capable Wi-Fi-capable handsets. For connectivity, Bluetooth, infrared and Wi-fi are all present. There is an internal memory of 80MB, stereo FM radio with RDS (Radio Data System); and a supplied 64MB Memory Stick PRO Duo. The integrated music player supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WAV files. You would be pleased with the music player’s interface, particularly with how easy it was to scroll from one song track to the next one. For business users, there is a PDF reader, Quick Office reader and editor for Microsoft word and excel documents. Battery life is impressive with talk time of 9 hours up to 16 days of standby time. Another impressive feature of the handset is that it includes a Task Manager which is designed to allow you both to switch between opened applications and closed applications. Overall, the Sony Ericsson P990i is an amazing little device with a lot of innovative features. I’m No Marriage Counsellor But I Have Been a Bestman

By Terje Ellingsen Though it’s a long time ago, I remember my first time as a Bestman as it were yesterday. I had been to many wedding receptions before but I’ve never had the honour of giving a speech, as a Bestman. And because this was the wedding of Fred – my best friend, I knew I had to take this long awaited matrimonial duty very seriously. You know, at that time I had never been married before, but I knew a few things about matrimony and love. I had however gone through a heartbreaking experience with my first amour, in addition to having been through a few passionate relationships with girlfriends. But to be honest I didn’t know anything about marriage or matrimony and here I stood thinking about what to say before I proposed the toast in honour of the happy married couple. It happens to be a little weird that a man knowing virtually nothing about matrimony was going to give advice regarding this issue. I must admit that the night before the wedding I started to panic a little because I had not decided on the content of my Bestman speech and among all the blatant advice regarding loving each other now that they were married, the question now was what should I say that had a twist no one else had given it? So the night hours passed one by one without me having written a single sentence of the matrimonial speech. I woke up the next day quite early. Like a mad man I started to write the speech, almost without thinking. After 10 minutes of almost automatically writing loving and matrimonial words in breath-taking speed, I finally slowed down, flopped down on my bed and read the following: Today I reflect back to a time when I was a young boy remembering meeting another young boy who quite quickly became my best friend. And now, as his Bestman, stand here before you and that very same young boy, who is now a grown man, happy and filled with affection for his lovely bride and hopefully life-long partner, and might I add to a very beautiful and wonderful woman. My advice is to work hard at your relationship and continue to get to know each other well. Essentially though, my best advice is to allow each other the freedom to continue growing within your selves and to always consider the others feelings and desires, hopes and dreams. If there should come a rough spell between you, seek out matrimonial advice when you feel you need it. Whether you seek out advice from happily married couples, or the wisdom of experts, know when you need help and make sure that you find it. I am confident that because of the loving passion shared between the two of you, this day marks the start of a long and loving merging of two hearts and two souls with the tools to create a splendid journey the both of you will cherish for the rest of your lives. To the Newlyweds, Fred and Maria, Congratulations!!! I married a few years later. Now I have been married for 15 years and I’ve tried to follow the advices I gave to Fred and Maria at their wedding. Maybe this is the reason why my matrimony with the best wife in the world has been so wonderful. Terje Brooks Ellingsen is a writer and internet publisher. How To Use A PDA Cell Phone To Reduce Stress And Organize Your Life

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gregg_Hall]Gregg Hall Do you stress over trying to remember schedules and appointments? Do you need to be able to access the internet on the road for email or information? If, so you consider getting one of the new PDA cell phones that are now available. I personally own a Treo, the same one that Jack Bauer uses in the series, 24. It makes my life a lot easier and I am sure that you will have similar feelings. The new PDA cell phones are hybrids of the PDA of the past combined with a cell phone and optional access to the internet. These devices are fast becoming a popular, must have accessory for young urban professionals as well as others in sales related industries such as insurance, financial planning, and real estate whose jobs require them to be out of the office quite a bit. These hybrid devices have now made it unnecessary to carry along two separate gadgets, combining the benefits of both a cellular phone and a personal organizer. The sheer convenience and mobility all rolled into one are the main reasons for the popularity PDA cell phones. One of the things I like most is the ability to use my phone to store many phone numbers that can be easily and quickly accessed like having your own phonebook. Some of the newer devices have huge storage available in the device themselves that will hold hundreds of names. In addition, many also offer the ability to install an optional data card for even more storage. I have one of these for my phone because I use the camera option a lot and the images take up a lot of space, especially movies! Another cool thing is that you can synch your PDA to your PC or laptop and download any data such as pictures or notes from meetings to your main computer. One of the best uses for these new devices is to use them for scheduling all of your meetings and appointments. With a built in timekeeper you can even set alarms to notify you ahead of time so that you don’t miss anything. Now you never have to worry about forgetting an important date or missing an appointment. Like all new technology the PDA cell phones are evolving all the time and becoming better and easier to use as well as lower in price. The latest Treo even uses Windows and Microsoft Office products to help you have a virtual office in the palm of your hand. Once you try one of these your life will never be the same. Olive Oil: Reading Between the Labels

By Ryan Joseph Olive oil manufacturers use all types of labels to seduce you. Don’t fall for them! Here are what the labels really saying “100% Pure Olive Oil” Sounds high end doesn’t it? Nope. In fact this is the lowest quality oil in the business. If it promises to be a good grade, then the word “virgin” should be on the label. “Imported from Italy” This usually means is that the oil was bottled in Italy . Half of the world’s olives are born and raised in Spain, but for some reason, Italy just sounds better to people. “Made from refined oils” The taste and the acidity of the oil is chemically produced and comes from refined oils, where much of that was stripped away in the refining process. “Lite olive oil” This implies a low fat content but actually refers to a lighter complexion. All olive oil contains fat and the about the same amount of calories 120 per tablespoon. If you’ve made a New Years’ Resolution to be healthy and you’re really trying to capture your own heart, you must evaluate what you eat. This type of evaluation should also include the oil you use. Some of the best quality oils are those produced in the regions of of Umbria and Sicily, Italy. The olives grown in these regions contain hydrophobic antioxidants (including squalene, and polyphenols like tyrosol, hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein), which are very important to good health. Once harvested, the olives are processed under the mildest possible conditions to prevent the oxidation of the antioxidants and then packaged under nitrogen to preserve oil quality. If you’re still using canola or corn oil for all of your culinary needs, it’s time to rethink that and look for healthier options. When it comes to oil, every spoonful is a decision you make for the well-being of your entire body. It’s not advisable that you cook with top-shelf Extra Virgin Olive Oil because it would defeat the purpose: the heat destroys the health-promoting properties. The taste, texture and nutritional profile are much richer if used on already-prepared food. Other vegetable oils or lower grade olive oils are good for cooking but the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil is ideal to place on the dinner table with the same pride you would your finest wine. Some guests may even ask you for an extra wine glass. Olive Oil can spoil, so here is a storage tip: If your oil is not stored properly, if exposed too much to the air, it can oxidize. Oxidation not only affects the taste of the oil, but it can also greatly affect the oil’s nutritional attributes. We recommend that you open your oil and pour out four ounces for your weekly use into a smaller easy-to-pour container (preferably glass). Shut both oil containers tight. This method keeps the main bottle less oxidized. Milk Thistle: Herbal Remedy for Healing and Toning

By Eric Hartwell Milk thistle is a plant that got its name because of its traditional virtue of being able to stimulate milk from nursing mothers. There is no evidence that this is the case but milk thistle is a component of many herbal remedies today. The scientific name is Silybum marianus and it is widely regarded as an important herbal component. Herbalists regard it as a very good plant for restoration and tone, especially useful if the body is tired, run down or in need of repair. Milk thistle seed extracts are abundant in herbal preparations as they contain silymarin which is thought to help liver disease including cirrhosis and hepatitis. Other claimed functions are that of lowering cholesterol (the metabolism of which involves the liver) and helping gallbladder disease. Some medical studies have confirmed the benefits of milk thistle but robust scientific trials are not easily discovered. Some studies have claimed that there are more antioxidants in milk thistle than there are in vitamin E. In this way, they appear to have their restorative value as they reduce free radicals in the body. This can be useful if the body is tired, under stress or run down. The benefits of milk thistle are not limited to the seeds as the flowers and leaves are used successfully in herbal remedies. Leaves are supposed to stimulate milk flow in mothers but can be an aid in menstrual problems whereas the flowers aid digestion. Milk thistle, which can be formed into drops, powder or capsules, is also said to be helpful when taken before alcohol to prevent hangovers! What is a Notary Public?

By Kent Pinkerton A notary public is a public servant appointed by a state official. The general focus of his or her job is to witness the signing of documents and administer oaths. They serve to deter fraud, appearing as an impartial witness for legal documents such as affidavits, deeds or powers of attorney. The presence of a notary public helps to screen for imposters and make sure both parties are entering into an agreement knowingly and willingly. Historically, notary publics date back many centuries to the Roman Empire. Originally, they where chosen by the Pope, who would delegate his powers of appointment to the Archbishop of Canterbury. Certain legal documents require the presence of a notary when they are signed. Other times private companies or individuals may employ the services of a notary in order to strengthen the validity and protect participating parties from fraud. Some states require that the notary public be present at the time of a documents signing to be acknowledged as valid, but it is more often the case that the individual must simply appear before the notary and give proof of identity to have a document notarized. For proof of identification, a notary typically requires a document with photo, description and signature. Common examples would be a drivers license, passport or military ID. Despite the fact that notary publics often deal with sensitive legal documents, they are not licensed to give legal representation, counsel or services in any way. Therefore they can have no part in the preparation of any documents to be notarized. For those seeking to become a notary public, obtaining a license is a fairly simple task. Individuals require little special training or prior knowledge, and are only required to pass a test and undergo some form of background check, although, specific laws governing the appointment of notaries can vary from state to state. For example, some states require that a candidate receive his or her appointment directly from the legislature. Others may require that a notary be a citizen of the United States before granting a license. Because of the differing laws governing notary publics, there have been many incidences where individuals claiming to be notaries have taken advantage of this ambiguity, scamming unsuspecting individuals. This is especially common in cases of immigrants seeking citizenship in the U.S. Due to the perceived similarity between a notary public and Notario Publico, a high ranking Latin position that is permitted to draft documents, give legal advice and hold other powers not available to a U.S. notary, individuals may allow a notary to perform tasks he or she is not legally qualified to undertake. In summary, the basic role filled by a notary public is that of an impartial witness. Contrary to popular belief, notarization does not make a document any more legal than it was prior. It simply means that the signer has acknowledged to the notary that he or she has signed the documents, and the contents are true. How to Make Any Woman Laugh and Fall for You

By Gerry Restrivera Humor is the best weapon that men can use to win a womans heart. If you would visit any dating forum, women always comment or write on their profile that they like men with sense of humor. In fact, 82% of women consistently rank humor as one of the top 3 qualities of men they want to date. If you know how to make any woman laugh, you are ahead of the game and she will eventually fall for you. This is a problem for men who believe that they dont have a sense of humor. Frustrated that they cant make any woman laugh and worried that there is no way they could win the heart of the woman they love. But dont despair, sense of humor can be learned and acquired through right techniques and practice. Here are some tips to make any woman laugh and fall for you. Do not afraid to throw a joke. Most men are skeptical to throw a joke to make any woman laugh. They are afraid that the joke is not that funny and women may feel frustrated or disappointed. Dont be afraid because women dont get disappointed when the joke is not funny. Studies shows that womens brain stays neutral and not disappointed when the joke is not funny but it gives them so much pleasure if the joke is surprisingly funny. So go ahead and try to make any woman laugh, theres nothing to lose. Make laughing a habit. If you heard a joke and you feel like laughing, laugh out loud if you want to. If you get used to laughing, people around you, including women, will laugh with you and its easier to communicate and throw a joke to make any woman laugh. With practice, humor will come out naturally from you. Do not be too serious. Cheer up, lighten up a little that people may feel that you are approachable and they can joke with you. If people start joking with you, you can learn and start to throw jokes too. You can lighten up a little but you can still keep the respect you need if you keep your respect to other people. Joking doesnt mean you disrespect people unless you joke about someones disability or make fun at the expense of other people. Always wear a smile. Do not frown, if you make it a habit to always wear a smile, you will create a pleasant mood. People around you especially women will regard you as a cheerful and happy person. And who wouldnt want to be with a happy person? Women love to be with happy, cheerful men. If you and the woman you are dating can laugh together, you are creating good memories that linger especially to women. If you can make any woman laugh, it is an experience she can to tell to her friends and family, delighted for having a date with a cheerful, humorous man. Setting Household Budget Priorities

By Bob Sherman If you are going to set up a household budget, you’re going to need to prioritize your spending. You simply cannot buy everything you want. You have to purchase the things you really need first. So, how do you separate your “wants” and “needs” so your household budget will be successful? To set up a household budget you will need to do three activities: – List your income. – List your expenses. – Set priorities and make changes so that your income will be greater than your expenses. Listing your expenses is important because it allows you to see where your money goes. Setting priorities will help you control spending so it is less than your income. You’ll need to keep an accurate record of everything you spend. Carry a notepad with you so you can write down the cost and short description every item you buy. You can group individual items into categories to make your expenses more understandable. Keep recording your expenses for a full month. After a month of recording everything you spend, you’re ready to set some priorities. This means that your household budget may reduce or eliminate spending for some items in order to make your expenses come below your income. It’s always painful to begin cutting back. But, you will probably be the first to admit that your spending has been somewhat out of control. So, are there objective ways to establish priorities within your household budget that can help minimize the pain of setting spending limits? === Objective Standards for Household Budget === Yes. The primary contribution of respected psychologist Abraham Maslow was a hierarchy of human needs. This prioritizing of needs can give you some guidance for setting your household budget priorities. This hierarchy has been described in the following form (starting with the most important level): 1) Physiological needs (food, water, sleep, personal hygiene) 2) Safety needs (employment, security of income, protection from violence, family security, health) 3) Love / Belonging needs (friendship, family relationships, social networks) 4) Esteem needs (recognition, self-respect, sense of contribution) 5) Self-actualization (ability to use your talents, creativity, appreciate life) === Applying The Hierarchy to Your Household Budget === In setting up a household budget, you should allot money for items that satisfy the physiological and safety needs before allocating money for needs at other levels. Let’s see how this works. The physiological needs are the most important. You need food, water, sleep, and personal hygiene to survive. This helps set your household budget priorities. Expenses related to these needs take first priority. Basic nutrition, shelter, and personal hygiene expenses take first place in your household budget. Next in line are the safety needs. These needs include enabling you to support your family and keep them safe. Basic expenses for transportation to and from work, clothing for work, making your home and neighborhood secure (which include taxes), and health care are included here. But, here is where you need to be careful. Let’s look at some of the household budget items included in these first two areas such as food (basic nutrition) and transportation to and from work. It is easy spend more money than is required to satisfy these basic needs. You may confuse expenses for basic necessities with money that would contribute to recognition and self-esteem (need levels beyond the basic levels). For example, buying nutritious groceries and making healthful meals at home helps fulfill your basic physiological needs. But dining out in fine restaurants goes beyond the basic needs. Frequenting fast food restaurants may be convenient, but is probably more expense than a simple nutritious meal at home–and fast food is likely to be much less nutritious. You could also consider transportation requirements for work. There is a basic level of transportation that fulfills the requirement to safely and reliably go between home and work. And there is a more luxurious, and expensive, level of transportation that fulfills the self-esteem needs. In setting up a household budget you must carefully consider how much to budget to satisfy these basic physiological and safety needs. Reducing expenses for some items may be inconvenient and seem a little harsh. But, if there is money left over after satisfying these basic needs, you can allocate money to other levels of needs. So, let’s say you do have money left over in your household budget after estimating how much you must spend to satisfy the needs in the first two levels. You can then allocate money for Love / Belonging needs. These activities might include family entertainment, occasional dining out, or for a family trip or vacation. Other items to consider here are cable TV, Internet, and attending a movie. You could also include magazines and newspapers in this category. If you have money in your household budget left over after allocating it to this category you can allocate money to items that fulfill the next category. When the money you can budget runs out, you know that spending for items not yet covered will have to be deferred. This is the part of making a household budget that seems painful. But, it also relieves you of the anxiety of wondering when the bill collector is going to call or the court is going issue a wage garnishment order. So, you can prioritize the items in your household budget in a fairly objective way using Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs. Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs will help everyone understand your household budget, give it their support, and make it successful. The King James Version, Inspired or Not

By Gary Kurz The controversy as to whether the King James Version of the Bible is the inspired Word of God or not has raged over many generations of Christians. Some believers unwaveringly claim it is the inspired word and others hold just as strongly that it is not. Occasionally, the opposing views can be so vehemently embraced that is causes schisms in the body and ministry suffers. That something like this could bring Christians to loggerhead in light of incontrovertible evidence is difficult to understand. We can understand when unbelievers stir up controversy about scripture, but not when it comes from those who have been enlightened by the Spirit of God. Regardless of one’s position, for a member of the body of Christ, charity and harmony should always prevail. Before charity and harmony are sought however, it is important that a Christian arrive at the right position on a matter. We are admonished in scripture to search out at thing to ensure that it is true. When we give due diligence to discover the truth, we leave no room for conflict in the body. In this matter of inspiration the search reveals that the King James Version simply is not and cannot be the inspired Word of God. No version or translation is. To arrive at an opposite conclusion than this is to not ignore the facts. I suspect that many use the word “inspired” when they actually mean to say “preserved.” Let’s briefly look at the difference and let’s keep it simple. Too often so-called Bible scholars get so deep that we common folk cannot understand what they are talking about. Consequently, not wishing to appear ignorant, we accept their teachings as fact, thereby perpetuating the error. Inspiration was a one time, never to be repeated act of God whereby he transferred his thoughts to paper by the hand of holy men that he selected. He searched their hearts and employed them to this holy task. These men were sometimes contemporaries, but often lived during different periods of history over many centuries of time. God revealed his thoughts according to his time table in the format and way he wanted. This is best evidenced in the continuity of thought and purpose of scripture. He used approximately forty men to deliver the complete canon of scripture over a period of some 1900 years, but clearly the Bible is the work of one author. We can allow some wiggle room for those who claim that these men wrote with their own flair, but even this concession borders on being dangerous. To infer that these men had any latitude to write what they wanted is simply preposterous. II Peter 1:21 tells us: “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” The statement could not be any clearer. The will of man was not involved in any way. The will of God was affected through men by the moving of the Holy Spirit. Picture a large sailing vessel becalmed in a bay, its sails hanging limp from the masts. Though they want to get underway, the men on the ship can do nothing to cause the ship to move. Suddenly a breeze is felt and the sails begin to rustle. The wind picks up to a steady pace and the sails fill. The ship begins to move. The men rush to their stations. The ship comes about and swiftly leaves the bay, rising and falling on the waves as it reaches open water. The men on the ship were not responsible for the ship’s movement. They did nothing but be where they were supposed to be. The vessel did nothing but move involuntarily to the will of the wind. So too the men God used to pen his word did nothing more than make themselves available to his will by being who and where they were supposed to be. Though they were willing vessels, they wrote involuntarily, and often ignorantly, as the Spirit of God moved them. Again, this was a one-time, never to be repeated act of God. God will never again transmit his thoughts to men until after he comes again to set up his theocratic kingdom on earth. Then he will commune with men in person and not through the written word. We no longer have the inspired word of God. Frequently you will hear someone try to qualify their ideas and conclusions about the meaning of a certain portion of scripture by saying “well, if you check the original…” That person is not well-versed on canonical history. The fact is that the original, known as the Autographa or Textus Receptus (Received Text) no longer exists. The original, or rather originals (as each book was given at different times in history) are no longer available. Of course we know that the Word of God is settled in the heavens, or, in other words, God holds it; but there is no collective work held in some secret vault somewhere on earth. It simply does not exist as some would suppose. Inadvertent and deliberate destruction, aging and other reasons have taken its toll. However, that is not problematic, because God tells us that he has preserved his word for all time so that all generations can know his truth. The word of God is preserved in a translation and those who hold to the King James Version being the Inspired Word will be happy to know that while that notion is not supportable by scripture and fact, it is indeed the Preserved Word. How can we be sure this is true? We know by simply by looking at the difference between the two concepts. The Inspired Word was perfect and flawless. The Preserved Word is not. In your service to the Lord you have heard people say “oh everyone knows that the Bible was written by men.” By this declaration, they mean that men had latitude in the development of the Bible. This was not true of the Inspired Word as we have already seen. However, there is a modicum of truth to this statement when it comes to the Preserved Word. Men did have some latitude. This is why there are so many inferior and unfaithful texts. The fact is that the King James Version of the Bible, or the Preserved Word, does have flaws. There are at least two miscues made by the translators that come to mind, and if I gave it more thought, I could come up with several more. For example, in II Thessalonians 2:2 the term “day of Christ” is used when it should read “day of the Lord.” It is an obvious error on the part of those who had the responsibility of translating and preserving the Inspired Word. Many might drop their lower jaw on this revelation and perhaps have their faith injured, but that should not be the case. There are no ramifications to major doctrinal issues or positions. They are benign and easily corrected by any Christian who is asked to explain the discrepancy. This underscores the importance of Christians being “instant in season.” We are the final link in the chain of preservation of the word. Inspiration brought us the perfect word of God. Translation began the preservation process. The King James Version continued the process by putting the preserved word into the hands of believers. The believer, in the role of priest, is to vigilantly protect the preserved word.
